On this twelve day tour we meet in Istanbul and spend two days exploring the city. The tour will include the Top Kapi palace, Hagia Sofya Cathedral museum, the Blue Mosque, the sixth century Cisterns, a boat tour of the Bospherous, shopping in the Grand Bazaar and the amazing mosaics and frescoes at Kariye.
On day three we drive to Edirne in European Turkey, the capital of the Ottoman Empire for a hundred years immediately before the fall of Constantinople in 1453, for a tour of the city and visit to the Great Mosque.
From here we travel south to the Gallipoli peninsular where we spend a day and a half on a conducted tour of the First World War battlefield.
Crossing into Asia at the Hellespont/Dardenelles, we visit Troy, and spend a night on the coast at Assos before exploring the ruins of the mountain-side city of Pergamon.
A stopover in Old Foca allows some relaxing time and a boat trip to the legendary rocks from where the Sirens are said to have tried to bewitch Ulysses.
We finish with two nights in the Greek village of Sirince with a comprehensive tour of the world famous city of Ephesus, the temple of Aphrodite and the final home of Mary the mother of Jesus, before flying back to Istanbul.
